Brussel sprouts & Apple Slaw

1 apple, diced
1 cup brussel sprouts, coarsely chopped (You can get them at TJ’s already chopped!)
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1 T red wine vinegar
1/2 T brown mustard
Sea salt and pepper to taste

Combine all of the above in a small bowl and stir to combine flavors.

I hope you enjoy this great fall side dish!

*I think this would be great if you added a little crispy bacon or prosciutto!  Give it a try.

Fun facts and why you should eat your sprouts~

Brussels sprouts, as with broccoli, contains sulforaphane, a chemical believed to have potent anticancer properties. Although boiling reduces the level of the anticancer compounds, steaming and stir frying do not result in significant loss.[14]

Brussels sprouts are also a source of indole-3-carbinol, a chemical which boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells.[1
