Only 5 days til the Twin Cities 10 mile…

What was I thinking when I signed up for this race in July?
I guess ideally I thought it would force me to start running again. Train. I have basically taken the year off from running after losing some love for it at the end of last year.

38 miles in the last 10 weeks! Stellar.

My longest run: 8 (very miserable) miles
Highest mileage in a week: 13 miles (last week) *cram session*

What’s my race day plan?
Run .9 /Walk .1 (It will probably be more walking than that, but that’s my goal. I believe miles 4-7 are all up hill.  Gulp.)

What am I telling myself?
What were you thinking?! Why didn’t you train?! Don’t get hurt! And last, but not least—>

    I lost interest in running this summer too. I had to walk part of my tutu two mile last weekend, but then again, I was up until 2:00 the night before at my high school reunion (the race wasn’t until 2:22 pm). Good luck. I think I am signing up for a 6.23K, but I think a lot of that will be walking with a friend.

    Kim… I’m with ya! I signed up for the 10 mile Monster Dash, and after going 6.25 today, I’m seriously thinking this could have been the dumbest idea I’ve had to date! I just started running this year and am running with 3 others who have been running for years! Ugh! BUT, I know I’ll be proud when I finish, just like you will!!! I’ll be thinking of you and sending you strong and fast positive vibes!!! Good luck!

  3. I married into a family of elite runners — which makes me VERY self conscious about my own running! BUT I’ve learned over the years that, like the quote says, a mile is a mile. And quite frankly — my elite running family never runs 2.5 or 3 miles in a row, thank you very much ;).
