- Fluctuations in weight are normal. Your weight can change frequently throughout the day. Worrying about the fluctuations can be demoralizing and ruin a perfectly good day.
- You may be gaining muscle. When you exercise, you are building muscle. Which means you are burning more fat, but may also be heavier on the scale.
- There are other reasons to exercise. Sure, losing weight is a great goal (if you need to), but you should also want to be healthier, to live longer, fight off disease, and feel happier.
- Your weight does not tell the whole story of your fitness. (Neither does your BMI! See that post here.)
What should you do?
Weighing yourself isn’t all bad. Just stop weighing yourself every day. Shoot for once a week on the same scale. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, get bogged down on a number. It is seriously just a number. Just be the best YOU, you can be. *I would take the 137# body over the 123# body anyday. Wouldn’t you?
