10.6 Miles Down Memory Lane

Less than two weeks til my last half marathon for the year.  Heck maybe ever…I kid. I kid.  On a serious note though, I am going into my 3rd 13.1 for 2012 and I am less prepared than the last one.  Which just so happened to be my worst one ever.  Ugh.

When will I learn? If I do another one, I will follow a structured training plan again. I will not just skip running for a few weeks and then run 8 miles.  I am sick of not feeling prepared.

Don’t get me wrong, knowing my legs CAN run 13 miles without falling off is something a few years ago seemed impossible.

So, I was going to get my last 10-12 mile run in at our cabin this past weekend, but the weather did not cooperate.  It was cold and rainy.  I did manage to fit in 4 miles though.  This view was a bonus:

We had a little detour in our plans and had to head back to my hometown for a few days for my grandpa’s funeral.  Which meant I had to do my last “long” run in Mayville, WI.  I hate running far here.  If I do a whole loop around the town it is 5 miles.  Which means I had to do two laps to get in 10 miles.  Why is this a problem?  If the run feels bad, it is TOO tempting to just cut it short and do one lap.

I forced myself to commit to two laps even if I felt like crap, which for the record, I did.  *Story of my life with running.*

Total miles: 10.6
Pace:  Sloooow
Memories revisited:  tons
