Kissing Hand

…and that way wherever you are, you can place your hand on your cheek and feel my love for you.  “Mama loves you. Mama loves you.”

If you have a school-aged child, you either have or should be reading them “The Kissing Hand (by Audrey Penn)”. It took everything I had inside to not let that tear in the corner of my eye fall down my cheek while reading with the boys last night.

Seriously.  When you first have a baby, everyone who has kids will tell you, “It goes so fast.  Cherish every minute.”  You kind of pooh-pooh it…and then, BOOM!, one day it blows up in your face!

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SEVEN YEARS, I will not have a child home with me during the day!  I am sure I will learn to like it or accept it, but right this minute, I think it stinks!

In. The. Blink. Of. An. Eye.

Today’s plan: don’t cry until I get to the car after dropping both boys off at school, bike 30 miles, shower, get hair cut and colored, and by the time that is all done, go pick my boys from school.

Friday’s plan: work day shift…avoiding the silence of my new life.

I think I can.  I think I can.
