Overnight, No-Cook Oats

NO COOK- say what?!
JUST MIX AND PUT IN FRIDGE- yes, it’s true!

There are a few recipes out there, but this is the one I tried this morning.

Combine in bowl:
1/3 cup steel-cut oats or rolled oats (I prefer the chewy texture of steel-cut.)
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Cover and put in fridge overnight.  The oats will soak up the all the moisture over-night.

In the morning all you need to do is stir and add some toppings.  I put a little homemade granola, sliced banana and blueberries in mine.  These are dense, rich, nutty, and filling.

You can really mix up the flavors and textures here.  You could skip the yogurt and just double up the milk.  You could add pumpkin or pureed bananas instead of yogurt.  Add a little zest of an orange and some grated ginger… The options are endless.  Simple.  Easy.  Yum!

  1. This is brilliant, I’m going to try it tonight and follow up with a taste test tomorrow morning. Thanks for the great idea.

    • I think they are great. I was going with the Joey from Friends theory (from when Rachel made sheperds pie)…oats good, yogurt good, almond milk good, so must it must be good together:)
