Tuna Tataki

OMG!  You have to try this.  It is so simple BUT so delicious.  It may possibly one of the best meals we ever made.

Tuna Tataki

1/2# sashimi grade tuna (1 piece works best)
1/2 cup minced ginger
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 T ground black pepper
sea salt
2 T EVOO

Place ginger, sesame seeds and black pepper on small plate.
Sprinkle tuna with sea salt.
Roll tuna in  ginger mixture and press down to coat.

Heat EVOO in pan on high heat.
Sear tuna on all sides, approx. 1 min per side.
Slice thinly and coat with ginger sauce (see below).

*I served mine on top of a mixture of fresh cilantro, thinly sliced red onion,
pea shoots, and carrot straws.

GINGER SAUCE

Juice of 1 lime
1/4 cup EVOO
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 small shallot, minced

Mix all of the above and spoon over fish.
It is also great for a potsticker dipping sauce!
*I was tempted to drink the left-overs 🙂
