Have you ever made your own taco seasoning?  If not, you should try it!

This is what’s in the pre-packaged stuff:  http://www.dietfacts.com/html/nutrition-facts/old-el-paso-taco-seasoning-mix-original-packet-42486.htm

This is what I make for my family:
1-1 1/2 pounds ground beef, chicken, or steak
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper

I found the recipe for the taco seasoning on 100daysofrealfood.com during the Unprocessed October Challenge. It is so simple and so good!

My salad is easy:
a few crushed Xochitl chips on the bottom
next a layer of chopped romaine
seasoned beef
a 1/4 cup of black beans
a few shreds of cheddar
black olives
green bell peppers
red onion slices
a dollop of sour cream
a dollop of homemade guacamole
all topped with a little hot salsa

You should give it a try.  You won’t regret it!
